the youngs have a serious problem: maddie loves horses and talks as if one of her own is in her future. i’m not sure if i helped the situation by suggesting we go to the show grounds for their family christmas card photo shoot.
we were going to do the pics before thanksgiving but trevor got in a fight and ended up with a black eye. we rescheduled for when the shiner went away. was good because there was a huge horse show that first weekend while we had the run of the place last sunday morning.

i’m always taking pictures of feet. even on the job i end up with feet pictures. cathi keeps telling me i need to make a book of just foot pictures. aunt karen teases me by taking pictures of her own feet and sending them to me - “nice new pink crocs, karen. thanks for sharing.”
this is why when megan asked half way through a christmas card session last weekend if we could do the feet shots i though she was making fun of me. nope. turns out they really wanted feet pictures. awesome!

another that probably won’t make it to a christmas card. can’t keep it to myself. there was a very animated game of hide-and-seek going on.

these next would have a chance to get on the card if i was pickin’.

so here is a slide show of tina and geoffrey’s wedding. so much fun. and such good sports. they are so natural in front of the camera, they should be on a stage or something. what do you think?
a page just for the show can be found here. much better for linking and all.

concerning my previous post about a shy client who doesn’t want her picture shown… she is in the independent with my picture of her. the article is about the new cafateria at harding school where she is the principle (and where my son is in kindergarten).
my picture is the black and white one down the page some. if you click on it you can see a larger version. the color pics of the food are the author’s, not mine. in the print version of the article (page 57 of last thursday’s edition) my picture is big and at the top.
sorry, Ms. Kingston, but with you in the paper i get to tell everyone about it.
the article can be read here
aside from it being cool to have my picture in the local paper, it is a good article about the great stuff happening at our neighborhood school. have a read.

last week.
the crazy fire business in santa barbara has made some funky sunsets. i’ve heard it described as a big, giant “warming filter” and “slightly beige.” it definitely worked for us on this day.
there was a large crowd of support staff around this shoot. cousins, friends, grandparents, etc. it was a good example of letting the kido’ run amouk and making some pictures of her having a great time at the beach.
a few more here .

a few months ago i was contacted by a guy who was planning on proposing to his girlfriend. they were from san jose and would be in santa barbara for the weekend. the girlfriend was expecting the weekend holiday, but not the proposal. nor was she expecting to have someone hiding in the bushes taking pictures of her get a new ring.
after the ring was offered and accepted, i introduced myself to both Carmen and JC and we spent an hour or two taking some engagement photos. Carmen was a real sport about the whole thing. especially considering that she has just gotten engaged and then had to spend the next couple of hours with a photographer she has never met instead of calling family and friends or kissing her new fiance. as it turns out, my presence didn’t stop them from doing plenty of the later.

laura (the “Elle”) and chris (the “See”) asked me to take some pictures at their wedding some months ago. i was very flattered to be asked by them. they are both very talented artists with great style to boot. at first i said i would have to think about, but quickly decided that was just silly and agreed to do it soon after.
the wedding didn’t disappoint - it was fantastic! here are a couple of pictures from the day. there is also a slide show i made with tons more pics at the bottom. or check it out here.
