so i’ve got this wife. and i’ve got this old 4×5 sheet film camera. but i don’t have a scanner that can handle the huge film. friend has a scanner that can almost handle the full frame. this is a slice down the middle of a backyard shot of the wife with the old camera scanned with the friend’s scanner.

concerning my previous post about a shy client who doesn’t want her picture shown… she is in the independent with my picture of her. the article is about the new cafateria at harding school where she is the principle (and where my son is in kindergarten).
my picture is the black and white one down the page some. if you click on it you can see a larger version. the color pics of the food are the author’s, not mine. in the print version of the article (page 57 of last thursday’s edition) my picture is big and at the top.
sorry, Ms. Kingston, but with you in the paper i get to tell everyone about it.
the article can be read here
aside from it being cool to have my picture in the local paper, it is a good article about the great stuff happening at our neighborhood school. have a read.

last week i took a few pictures for a woman that needed publicity pictures for work. she was getting more and more requests from newspapers and the like for a picture to go along with stories that were being written about her. with the increased publicity, she thought it might be time to get a “real” picture and stop emailing the scan of her driver’s license (i did not see this scan, nor the original picture, but can’t imagine it was close to ideal).
i met her at her place of employ and we walked around the grounds and talked, and laughed, and took some pictures. while very affraid of the camera (”this is my shots. like most people will avoid going to the doctor in fear of shots, i will do anything to avoid having my picture taken.”) , we managed to get some great pictures.
i’m not sure what her problem is; she is actually very photogenic. i emailed her a link to a handful of pictures and she was too afraid to even look at them. “just tell me which one is best and send me that one. i don’t want to have to choose,” she says.
needless to say, you all don’t get to see the pictures. but i thought it might be fun to tell you about it. and just know that if she wasn’t so shy (and such a prominent figure in santa barbara life) i’d be showing you some of the best pictures ever taken. you are just going to have to take my word for it.

did some pictures for the new pelago web site. i had stopped by their great office a few months earlier with a rented Mamiya 7 rangefinder and shot them up with some tri-x film. i showed them the pictures and they liked them so much they asked me back to take some for their web site that they were in the process of re-designing. check out their site here. see any of my stuff?
